Cake Decorator

We are looking to hire a care decorator to assist with designing and decorating cakes according to the specifications and preferences of customers.

The cake decorator's responsibilities include taking cake orders from customers, receiving instructions and special requests, making appropriate recommendations on cake decoration and design, and packaging the bakery items.

You must also be able to store all baked goods according to proper product handling procedures to ensure freshness and prevent contamination.


Job Duties:

  • Develop a strong understanding of Healthy Planet's vision, objectives. products, services, partners, and value proposition
  • Communicate with customers about desired cake designs and cake decorating ideas for specialty cakes.
  • Design and decorate cakes according to customer requirements.
  • Produce different types of icing, frosting and fillings according to the type of cake and customer preferences.
  • Adhere to all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, Health and Safety, corporate policies, and other programs and initiatives
  • Support with the daytoday operations of the bakery
  • Handle and prepare Bakery products, Process customer Bakery orders
  • Strategically arranging bakery items in display cases to encourage customer purchases
  • Increase store sales by actively promoting products
  • Greet customers in a pleasant, friendly and helpful manner
  • Provide exceptional customer service while ensuring customer concerns are addressed tactfully and in a professional manner.
  • Order and receive inventory and ensure that the bakery is adequately stocked with required ingredients
  • Ensure freshness of all bakery items and that they meet the established standards on quality, uniformity, and aesthetic appeal
  • Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in the bakery premises
  • Ensuring that baking tools, utensils, and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized
  • May be required to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis

Requirements:

  • Degree in culinary arts or baking and pastry arts is advantageous
  • A food handler's license is an asset
  • Proven baking and cake decorating experience.
  • The ability to use various cake decorating instruments and tools.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Detailoriented.
  • Artistic and creative.
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with clear and effective communication style
  • Excellent customer service & problem solving skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Skilled at working in a fastpaced environment while maintaining priorities and a high level of performance
  • Well versed in managing systems necessary to operate a cash register, credit card machine, computer and pricing gun
  • Should be physically fit as the role would involve walking, standing and lifting heavy items throughout the shift
  • Flexible to work a variety of shifts; mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role would be preferred
