Reporting:

The Child & Youth Grief Counsellor will report to the CRHS Lead Clinical Counsellor, who will also provide clinical supervision.


Overview:

  • Playbased, child and youthfocused counselling with clients ages years old who are experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one by illness or sudden death, including suicide, overdose, homicide and accidents.
  • Work alongside parents and families individually and in a group setting to provide counselling, support, education and strategies to support their children in addition to the whole family unit.
  • Practice in compliance with all ethical guidelines and standards as per BCACC standards.
  • Teamwork, collaboration, cooperation, and effective communication with all other counsellors at CRHS, as well as administrative and leadership staff.

Education:

  • A Registered Social Worker, A Registered Clinical Counsellor, Mental Health Nurse or an Expressive Arts Therapist. Master's Degree and asset.
  • Minimum three years experience in Grief Counselling with children, youth and families

Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of counselling interventions and clinical practice with children, youth and families
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills as pertain to scheduling and documentation
  • Cultural competence and work with diverse populations is an asset

Requirements:

  • Availability to work daytime 8 am 4 pm
  • Clear vulnerable sector police check
  • Familiarity with virtual counselling techniques
  • Current liability insurance
  • Current registration with a professional association/accrediting body
