Job Description:
The Allied Health Services (AHS) team, under Professional Practice consists of Regulated Healthcare Professional including: Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work, Registered Dietitians, Respiratory Therapy, as well as unregulated Rehabilitation Assistants.
The team has a Professional Practice Leader (PPL) model for each regulated allied health discipline which promotes and enhances the interprofessional team.
Each discipline has their own PPL with dedicated time to enhance their communities of practice, represent their respective disciplines at committees, create policies & procedures and lead corporate level initiatives.
RVH is undergoing significant growth, including a capital plan that will see the current North Campus double in size over the next ten years, while developing the new South Campus in Innisfil.
- Supporting adult acute clinical experience across varied settings, including adult acute inpatient medicine, adult acute inpatient surgery, adult ambulatory care clinics
- Professional Development & Education Support through RVH Education Trust Fund.
- Growing and developing clinical skills within the acute care setting with the support and collaboration of an experienced and committed SLP clinical team.
We are currently seeking
a temporary part time Rehabilitation Assistant (0.8FTE, September 2023) to support our inpatient integrated stroke and rehabilitation teams.
Rehabilitation Assistants are responsible for documenting and communicating all appropriate information to the PT and OT they are working with and as necessary with other health team members, to ensure the best possible care is given to each patient as well as ensure safety for both personal and patient safety.
- Secondary School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Rehabilitation Assistant Program; dual trained OTA/PTA program certification mandatory
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, focusing on patient centered care
- OTA/PTA experience in acute hospital and rehabilitative care settings
- Knowledge of the use and purpose of therapeutic interventions for inpatient rehabilitation settings
- Understanding of proper exercise techniques
- Safe and effective patient transfer techniques
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work successfully within an interprofessional team
