Our reputable Insurance client based in Markham, ON, has an exciting 6-month temporary role that may be extended, and is currently seeking a Financial Analyst to support financial operations. The ideal candidate will collaborate with stakeholders to enhance processes, ensure regulatory/internal controls compliance, and provide valuable analysis to support various projects.



RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Solidify financial operations by assisting with quarter/month-end processes, including financial review, analysis, and proposing accruals/entries for ledger completeness
  • Investigate and reconcile general ledger, and analyze variances in month-end and quarter-end balance sheet/income statement activities
  • Collaborate with business partners to enhance financial processes, including Treasury and vendor management
  • Review and analyze liquidity forecasts, bank charge analysis, and quarterly investment reports
  • Monitor account reconciliations for aged items and drive process efficiency improvements through automation
  • Support regulatory reporting such as OSFI Reinsurance filing and implement OSFI Guidelines in partnership with the Risk Management team
  • Provide financial analysis on projects including IFRS 17 analysis and reporting, preparation of presentation materials, and assisting with Ad-hoc projects


REQUIREMENTS:
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent field
  • Professional designation or working towards one
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial accounting, reporting, and analysis
  • Strong analytical skills and effective communication abilities
  • Deadline-driven, detail-oriented, and efficiency-focused with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Proficient in Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Knowledge of accounting standards such as US STAT, US GAAP (LDTI), and IFRS is an asset
  • Previous experience in the insurance industry is advantageous
  • Capability and willingness to take ownership and responsibilities of projects
