Position Responsibilities

  • The Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) School of Arts and Education is seeking a versatile Animation and Visual Effects Instructor to teach courses in Post-Production—primarily Lighting and Compositing—for a fulltime, 8.5 month sessional position starting on August 14th, 202
  • Ability to teach in other areas of the program will be considered an asset.
  • Primary responsibilities:
  • teaching undergraduate
  • level courses in all years of the Animation and Visual Effects degree program and fostering a collaborative, inclusive learning environment.
- mentoring students and assisting with recruitment initiatives.
- engaging in other program, school, and institutional service appropriate to workload, interest, and expertise.

Required Qualifications

  • Applicants must have:
  • BFA* or equivalent degree in Animation or closely related discipline.
- substantial industry experience.
- post-secondary teaching experience.

  • While there may be opportunities for online or hybrid instruction, work will primarily be located on campus, so applicants must be committed to an active teaching, consulting, and service presence on site.
- _Applicants without a _BFA_ but with an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered._

Preferred Qualifications

  • an MFA in Animation or equivalent terminal degree in a related discipline.

  • Red Deer Polytechnic offers a comprehensive benefits package including Alberta Blue Cross extended health and dental plans, and health spending account. There is a tuition waiver for RDP credit courses for you as well as your immediate family members, as well as opportunities for professional development funding. The Local Authorities Pension Plan is also offered as an option to those who have served a waiting period. There is paid time off due to Institution closures between Christmas and New Year general holidays.
  • This position also offers an additional 8% of the regular salary in lieu of vacation.
