Are you an experienced real estate lawyer looking for the next step in your career? Our client, a dynamic law firm in Ottawa, is seeking a talented lawyer with 5+ years of experience in real estate development and commercial transactions. This full-time, on-site position could be your next great opportunity

Salary range: starting at $150,000+, depending on experience

About you

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 5-8 years practicing real estate law, with a focus on real estate development and commercial transactions
  • Expertise in Ontario real estate laws, land development, zoning, and construction law
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills for complex legal advice
  • Proven record managing real estate development projects from inception to completion
  • Independent and collaborative in a fast, deadline-driven setting
  • Commitment to growth, staying current on trends in real estate law and development

About the role

If hired, you will:

  • Advise clients on all aspects of real estate projects —land acquisition, zoning, land use regulations, permitting, construction contracts, financing arrangements, and PM
  • Perform due diligence, risk assessments, and develop strategies for real estate deals
  • Draft and negotiate various real estate documents —sales, development, joint ventures, easements, leases, and financing
  • Help resolve legal disputes in real estate development projects —contract disputes, zoning appeals, environmental compliance matters, and construction defects
  • Stay updated on laws and trends, advising clients on impacts and strategic opportunities
  • Collaborate to deliver integrated legal services to clients and support the overall success of the firm
