Tasks:

  • Perform jobsite calculations
  • Signal crane operators to position units according to blueprints
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications
  • Position and secure steel bars or metal mesh in concrete forms to reinforce concrete structures
  • Unload and position steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed

Supervision:

  • Ironworkers

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses:

  • Ironworker Red Seal Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate
  • Forklift Operator Certification

  • Steel, iron and heavy metals

Welding techniques:

  • Oxyacetylene

Cranes (assemble, erect, jump, dismantle):

  • Tower crane
