The Security Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining a secure environment at the state hospital by monitoring, responding to incidents, and ensuring the safety of patients and staff. This includes tasks such as monitoring surveillance cameras, patrolling the premises, and handling emergency calls to enhance overall safety.
In addition to disseminating emergency information and coordinating responses, the Security Officer is also responsible for identifying potential security issues and unfamiliar individuals on campus, all while ensuring adequate lighting for everyone's safety. This role allows for independent judgment while following established guidelines.
Performs other assigned duties.
Among these additional responsibilities is active participation in disaster response or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation, which may involve different shift patterns or locations. There is also a possibility of additional compensation for work done in maximum security areas.
Essential Job Functions:
Consistent attendance and willingness to work various shifts, including overtime, if needed. Monitoring surveillance cameras, conducting building patrols, and promptly reporting emergencies are key responsibilities.
Coordinating emergency responses, assisting in suspect apprehension, and preparing incident reports are all vital aspects of the role.Assessing security regulations and suggesting improvements, as well as effective communication skills, are essential.
Performs other assigned duties.
Participation in disaster response and/or COOP activation, along with maintaining a calm demeanor in emergency situations, are crucial aspects of this position.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Understanding of building security and surveillance equipment operation.
Knowledge of building entry regulations, alarm systems, and effective communication skills for written reports.
Ability to interact with diverse individuals, patrol effectively, and respond promptly to emergencies.
Proficiency in concise report writing, remaining composed in challenging situations, and reacting swiftly during emergencies.
