Why is this role important?

Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Coordinator, Clinical Administrative Databases Operations, is responsible for the coordination and delivery of assigned operational activities related to the Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), the National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS), and the Hospital Morbidity Database (HMDB) databases. With a focus on CIHI's acute and ambulatory care information, the Senior Coordinator is responsible for the execution of project activities, synthesis and write-up of environmental scanning activities, maintenance of SharePoint site and preparation of status reports. Additionally, they provide stakeholder communications and support, and contributes to the analysis and improvement of documentation of key business process flows.

What you'll do

1. Develops and monitors project plans and participates in the completion of deliverables in relation to CAD Operations activities across three portfolios. Provides progress and status updates to the CAD Operations leadership team and identifies potential risks, resource challenges, and required adjustments.

2. Coordinates logistics and activities for assigned projects including scheduling, drafting and developing relevant documentation, facilitating meetings, and obtaining approvals.

3. Gathers, reviews, and assesses information on various aspects of assigned projects. Solicits timely input and feedback from internal and external stakeholders and develops communication materials as appropriate.

4. Coordinates and conducts quality assurance activities for documentation, information, and products from assigned projects. Ensures CAD and CIHI policies, procedures and processes are followed.

5. Participates in meetings to identify and resolve system issues; assesses potential gaps and provides improvement recommendations for key CAD business processes. Ensures comprehensive process documentation.

6. Participates in client-facing activities, including development of a minimum data set, and gathering input on system modifications; monitors and expedites stakeholder use of CAD products and information.

7. Participates in client-facing activities related to DAD/ NACRS/ HMDB data supply; monitors and expedites stakeholder use of CAD products and information.

8. Develops and maintains content knowledge as it relates to assigned projects and departmental processes.

9. Develops and maintains strong relationships and works in collaboration with a variety of CIHI stakeholders internal and external to the AACIS Branch as well as external stakeholders on committees, working groups and content experts.

What you'll bring to the table


• Undergraduate degree in Health Sciences, Health Information, Social Sciences, Administration, or business-related field or equivalent

• 3 to 5 years of related experience in the health care sector

• Multi-stakeholder project management experience in a health organization

• Knowledge of CIHI products, services and general familiarity with CIHI as an organization is an asset.

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities at once and reprioritization as necessary.

• Demonstrated experience in taking a creative and methodological approach to project work.

• Experience with quantitative/statistical methods is an asset.

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Word, Project, and Outlook) as well as SharePoint.

• Excellent interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and self-learn.

• Fluency in English is required, bilingualism is an asset
