Destination Canada is looking for a
Co-op/Intern, Marketing Insights & Analytics to join our team in Vancouver as we inspire travellers to explore Canada.
The
Co-op, Marketing Insights & Analytics role contributes to the effectiveness and efficiency of the Marketing Performance and Strategy Team, contributing to marketing data product development in a company-agency context.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide support in the development of an automated marketing reporting tool by collecting feedback from end users, documenting requirements, and testing new features. May engage in design thinking workshops and A/B testing to validate design choices.
- Assist in cleaning, organizing, and ensuring the integrity of data from multiple sources. This includes identifying and rectifying discrepancies, missing values, and data normalization. Requires collaboration with external vendor(s).
- Assist in the analysis and reporting of marketing data across various channels. This could involve using Domo to create and update dashboards.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including data models, architecture diagrams, and API documentation, to support product development and adoption.
- Develop training materials for end users to aid in change management. This could involve explaining how to access marketing insights to answer business questions that lead to datadriven decisions.
Essential Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Student from a recognized post-secondary institution with a focus in one of these fields: business analytics, data science, computer science, software development, information systems.
- Concentrating in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Development, Information Systems.
- Experience in or good understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing and the use of analytics platforms like Domo or Tableau for dashboards and reporting.
- Experience with programming languages relevant to data analysis and automation (e.g., Python, SQL, JavaScript).
- Exposure to Agile development methodology for software development through coursework or personal projects
- A selfstarter who can contribute as a team player.
- Experience within crossfunctional teams is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of the software development process, including requirements gathering, documentation practices, testing methodologies, and deployment strategies.
- Familiarity with creating and maintaining technical documentation such as data models, architecture diagrams, and API documentation.
- Understanding of how statistical analysis and predictive modeling may be applied to marketing data to provide insights for decisionmaking.
- Basic knowledge of SAFe Agile practices or other Agile methodologies.
- Understanding of the product development lifecycle, from conceptualization to deployment.
- Understanding of change management principles and strategies to facilitate user adoption of new tools or processes.
ABILITIES:
- Ability to create clear, structured technical documentation that can support a diverse audience (technical and nontechnical stakeholders)
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to a nontechnical audience to develop training materials that facilitate user adoption and change management.
- Strong problemsolving skills, with a proven track record of identifying challenges and implementing innovative solutions.
- Ability to work under pressure with a high level of commitment to meeting deadlines and providing quality work
- Interpersonal skills: This position requires excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully build alliances, establish good working relationships and foster communications links with colleagues and thirdparty stakeholders. Interactions involve gaining the agreement of others in taking a particular course of action. Key interpersonal skills required include listening and communicating effectively, empathy, diplomacy and the ability to remain calm under pressure and during stressful situations.
