Overview


As a Procurement Leader, you will create and own the strategic relationship with suppliers and internal stakeholders while building collaboration within and across organizational boundaries.

You will help develop key sourcing activities, ensuring goods and services availability to meet business goals while minimizing risk. You will be the trusted advisor in strategic sourcing and other procurement initiatives. You will work side-by-side with your stakeholders to deliver the best end-customer experience. This role also involves projects or process flows, working with teams on relevant strategic or operational initiatives for Ciena.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify, develop and deliver long term sourcing strategies, lead key initiatives with crossfunctional teams; drive the decision making process of the category roadmap with stakeholders.
  • Drive commercial relationships with suppliers;
  • Lead supplier performance management; including improving sustainability & social responsibility;
  • Coordinate and collaborate with local teams to deploy and manage the implementation of defined strategies.
  • Contribute to vendor setup and maintenance objectives
  • Drive effective delivery of Procurement metrics by leading / supporting projects and initiatives identifying root cause of issues and corrective actions
  • Partner with key stakeholders to understand business requirements and define procurement operations strategy e.g. supplier risk management., vendor performance, future opportunities and/or business challenges
  • Assist to develop and ensure adherence to Ciena's procurement policy and drive compliance to all Procurement policies and procedures

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Procurement professional adept at both Procurement Operations and Category Management/Sourcing
  • People management experience, with an ability to influence and earn the trust of stakeholders
  • Experience in a fastpaced multinational environment, dealing with Ambiguity and with an eye for detail, able to work independently with limited supervision and a bias for action
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with procurement tools e.g. Oracle, Coupa, Ivalua
  • Fluency in English.
  • Possesses the ability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization/time management and data driven problemsolving skills
  • Previous experience in Supplier Risk Management

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree/MBA
  • At least Five or more years of relevant experience in Procurement, Supplier Risk Management, Procurement Operations management, Category Management
  • Experience in process management
  • Interpersonal skills in building relationships and influence

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT

  • Occasional travel may be needed
