The Program


This program aims to reintegrate students into the school environment and reduce risk of potential relapse through transformational positive experience, which fosters personal development and autonomy.


Position Overview
The SRP Support will be part of a team that operates the program from an experiential, strength-based perspective.

The support worker will support the safety and wellbeing of the youth while assisting with homework, course selection for school, time management, mediation, basic skills tutoring, and supporting youth transitions back into school.

The Support Worker will participate in the process as the students move through the program, and be responsible for a handful of students at a time while the program coordinator is doing assessments.


Responsibilities

  • Provide support to youth through a trauma informed care perspective in a group setting.
  • Connecting with schools when neccesary
  • Adhere to safety protocols ensuring the safety and wellbeing of youth.
  • Planning/Conducting daily activities, weekly workshops along with the program team lead.
  • Adhere to standard health and safety procedures
  • Other duties as required
  • Child Protection training annually

Education & Experience

  • Postsecondary schooling in Education or Human Services related field preferred
  • 12 years of youth justice, child and youth care, social work or human services experience is considered an asset but not required
  • New graduates and students in school will be considered
  • CPR and first aid certification
  • Knowledge of experiential learning, strengthbased practice and trauma informed care

Other Qualifications

  • Clear Police Record Check with Vulnerable sector check

Details:
Term position: End date June

Program Hours:9:30am - 2:30pm M, T, F *flexibility may be required to adjust to program needs; 20 hours a week

Wage: 15.50/hr
