The Position:


Reporting to the President and CEO, the Chief Nursing Executive (CNE) will play an integral part of the Hospital's senior leadership team providing managerial and clinical leadership while ensuring the delivery of excellent quality patient centered care.


Aligning with the Hospital's mission, vision, values and strategic plan, the ideal incumbent will provide transformational leadership, while collaborating with key stakeholders in designing and implementing quality initiatives to promote an organizational culture of clinical excellence.


As the Chief Nursing Executive, you will:

  • Provide senior leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of hospital programs/services in conjunction with the Hospital's organizational structure of portfolio's and Strategic Plan
  • Development of hospital governance e.g. policies and procedures to align with best practice standards and guidelines
  • Act as an organizational lead regarding Accreditation and quality improvement initiatives to align with hospital governance and patient and family engagement
  • Commit to and encourage practice innovation to advance and improve patient outcomes while assuming accountability for meeting quality and safety performance targets set by the Board of directors in accordance with Reg, 965 ECFAA and Health Quality Ontario.
  • Leader and support for associated risk and accessibility programs in collaboration with corporate services.
  • Support and development of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) within the organization, workplace culture, and strengthen indigenous health team integration and relationships
  • Liaison for union related business/relations, collective and local bargaining, dispute, grievance and resolution and related meetings/committees
  • Develop and implement strategies to deliver excellent health care services by creating and aligning collaborative partnerships with community partners
  • Advocate for the nursing profession by ensuring consistency with standards of nursing practice consistent with the College of Nurses of Ontario standards and RNAO evidencebased practice guidelines; coordinating this approach with care/service across various health disciplines
  • Ensures a supportive work environment that promotes and inspires excellence in nursing care, education and research
  • Oversee the coordination, utilization and budgets of resources including human and financial resources within designated departments

Your educational background will include:
graduate of an approved nursing program and currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Successful completion of a postgraduate degree in business or health administration at a Master's level and/or equivalent education and business experience preferred.


Oral proficiency in French at an advanced or superior level is required.
