About the job:

The Compliance Department is responsible for overseeing compliance with laws, regulations, guidelines and policies that apply to the firm's banking and financial activities, particularly in the areas of anti-money laundering, anti-terrorism financing, sanctions & embargoes, know-your-customer obligations, client protection, market integrity, anti-bribery & corruption, data protection and client tax transparency.

The Compliance Department enables the firm to operate according to essential compliance standards, ensures that non-compliance and reputation risks are controlled, while supporting the business with existing activities and in the development of new products or services.

Compliance acts as a second line of defense, developing and implementing policies, procedures and controls, monitoring activities, advising the business, assessing risks, and providing training to ensure understanding and application of requirements, contributing to spread a culture of compliance within the Group

What will be your day-to-day?
Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Taking responsibility for the execution of the Compliance IT Strategy for the AMER region.
  • Managing the relationship and coordination of projects between IT and Compliance locally and coordinating work with our global counterparts.
  • Partnering with Compliance teams in the Americas to understand their business needs, present opportunities to enable business processes with technology and work with IT to design systems accordingly.
  • Managing transversal projects for the Compliance Department.
  • Working in partnership with the Head Office in designing, sourcing, and integrating state-of-the-art technology for the Americas.
  • Developing the Annual Americas Compliance IT Business Plan in coordination with key stakeholders.
  • Managing systems development projects for new and/or enhanced applications with our Technology business partners.
  • Escalating key issues to Compliance Management.
  • Managing the relationship with key vendors as well as communicating issues and problem solving.
  • Organizing trainings for the Compliance staff on new technology as necessary.

Profile
Skills and qualifications:
Must have:

  • 3 to 5 years of Project Management experience.
  • Experience in developing applications in a financial industry using waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with one or more development languages (C++, Java, Python, R...).
  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a dynamic, deadline-focused environment.
  • Communication Skills: excellent verbal, writing and presentation skills with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels within the organization and be able to relay complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Analytical capability: Able to break down complex problems into simple manageable units, develop solutions for each unit, and integrate them back into the whole.
  • Understanding of overall risk and Compliance risk management in a financial.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
