There are also many opportunities for long term assignments up to one school year in length and permanent positions.As part of a multi-disciplinary team, Educational Assistants (EA) play a vital role in supporting educational programs in elementary and secondary schools working directly with students individually and in in small groups.
Education / CertificationCollege Diploma in Child and Youth Care Worker (CYW), Developmental Service Worker (DSW), Educational Assistant (EA) or a College Diploma/University Degree in a related field
Broad knowledge of child and youth development
Working knowledge of the IEP, Behaviour Safety Plans and Behaviour Management Plans an asset
One year experience in related field
Proficient in the use of word processing software, Internet and email
Assisting students as required (e.g. repetitive bending, assisting children with carrying their belongings, and transferring and positioning students)
Assisting with carrying out treatment programs/individual education plans
Manual dexterity required to use computer and peripherals
Experience in a classroom setting would be considered an asset
Hourly rate of pay is $28.Conditions of offers of employment include submitting an acceptable Police Record Vulnerable Sector Check, and completion of the Ministry of Labour Supervisor Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps Training (on-line) prior to the commencement of any employment duties.
