Job Duties/Qualifications, Skills and Abilities(QSA):
- Job Duties
Job Duties - 1. Provide practical English language training based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks to assist adult newcomers in transitioning to life, employment, or further education.
- Teach in a blended learning (part face-to-face, part online) or online environment according to the mandates of the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program set by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
- Our program uses as the learning management system (LMS) in all classes. Those without training must complete Stage 1 and Pre-Stage 2 LIT2T training within two (2) weeks of hire in order to gain access to courseware. Stage 2 and Stage 3 must be completed within six months of full-time and 10 months of part-time employment while actively teaching with the courseware. This training is provided free and is part of your regular duties.
- Use Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) methodology and guidelines to plan modules and deliver CLB level appropriate language learning activities.
- Maintain student attendance records, student progress and participation, and PBLA portfolio evidence of advancement as well as all other student related information as required by the program.
- Facilitate appropriate conversations with and motivate students who may have low engagement or participation. Able to seek program support where appropriate.
- Accommodate special learning needs faced by students with education and digital literacy gaps when appropriate. Be able to provide appropriate referral as warranted by seeking out program support.
- Be adept at working within a culturally diverse classroom that could be sensitive to certain social traditions and political leanings.
- Collaborate with members of the LINC instructional and administrative team to ensure continuity, accuracy, and efficient student advancement as outlined in the PBLA implementation guidelines.
- Actively participate in and seek out professional development opportunities for enhanced service excellence.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
- 1. All instructors must reside and work in Canada as per IRCC mandates
- Bachelor's of TESOL from a 350+ hour course recognized by TESL Canada with a Standard 2 from TESL Canada or Canadian equivalent and relevant classroom experience (50 hours of practicum experience) within the last five (5) years. If degree was completed over five (5) years ago, must have a minimum of 500 ESL teaching hours to adult learners in the last five years.
An undergraduate degree in a related field (i.e.
English Language Arts or Education) AND must have completed a TESOL program from an institute recognized by TESL Canada and/or have TESL Canada or TESL Saskatchewan certification, AS WELL AS a minimum 1500 hours experience in classrooms in the last five (5) years as an English language instructor to adults.
- Minimum 1000 hours within the last two (2) years using an online teaching platform, preferably Moodle.
- Proficient working knowledge of basic MS Office Suite programs and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology. Able to use videoconferencing software.
