GIS Analyst Intern to join our team.
The
GIS Analyst
Intern would support the ongoing development, administration, maintenance and improvement of Diamond Head's GIS services, and support office and field staff working on a variety of arboriculture, biology, wildfire, and environmental planning projects.
We are currently working on numerous Urban Forest Strategies, Biodiversity Strategies, Community Wildfire Protection Plans, and development-related projects in Arboriculture.
GIS Analyst
Intern will play a key role in the successful completion of all these projects and initiatives.
Day-to-day tasks include:
Developing and maintaining geospatial layers
Data processing and conversion
Performing spatial analysis to inform decision-making
Creating and managing field form design using ESRI's Field Maps
Map layout and design
Generation of summary statistics
Undertaking data compilation, modeling, and analysis, using GIS and other tools in order to produce maps, reports, dashboards, etc.
Proposal writing and contributing to project cost estimates
Creation of system and user documentation related to GIS
Specialist tasks required include:
Canopy classification and cleaning using LiDAR and other remote-sensing products
Application development and customization with scripting languages (i.e. Python, Arcade
Degree, certificate or diploma in GIS and a minimum of 1 year of experience;
or
Post-graduate degree in GIS
Extensive working knowledge of ESRI's ArcGIS software suite, including ArcGIS Pro and Field Maps
Field form design and use of ESRI's Field Maps App and ArcGIS Online
QGIS
Remote Sensing
AutoCAD
Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop) for graphic design and document layout
Hands-on experience managing and overseeing data conversion, cleaning and preparation.
We are looking for a proactive and collaborative team member, with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. The ability to independently problem-solve is essential.
You will gain invaluable experience in the GIS and environmental management realm due to the range of projects and initiatives ongoing, as well as the cutting-edge tools in GIS and remote sensing currently employed by DHC.
