The LRT Track Slab Construction/ Installation Manager is responsible for evaluating, leading and implementing the infrastructure technology, as well as operational initiatives to deliver the Valley Line West project to completion safely, on time and on budget.

The role requires detailed knowledge of heavy public infrastructure LRT projects, as well as people and project management skills in a public-facing, time-sensitive project.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Management Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate and execute all aspects of the project life cycle (coming into project during construction phase)
  • Adhere to all aspects of project's ECO Plan, Quality Plan and all applicable legislation at all times, and lead by example
  • Identify and implement opportunities for efficiencies, and increased capacity
  • Perform costbenefit analysis, funding justification, contracts management, as required
  • Engage and influence key stakeholders and build consensus to support effective delivery of project milestones
  • Effectively balance the needs of the project while providing support to the managers, supervisors and stakeholders of the project.
  • Organize and lead meetings with managers, key team members and supervisors as needed to collaborate and allocate resources accordingly
  • Meet with client, and represent the project in communications and other forums as required
  • Meet with joint venture partners and subtrades as required
  • Prepare detailed reports and forecasts
  • Be aware of the project schedule, VITG and budget at all times and alert relevant parties to concerns
  • Make technicallysound recommendations to remediate any issues
  • Constant communication with supervisors and superiors to ensure priorities are formed, adhered to, and project deadlines are met

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Advise and provide expertise on construction schedule, constructability and scheduling
  • Liaise between stakeholders to ensure seamless use of resources and minimize waste
  • Continuous learning of new developments in the industry and best practices

Profile:

  • Requirements:
  • Four year degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline OR equivalent trade designation and years of experience in relevant industry
  • P Eng or similar designation an asset
  • 5+ years LRT track slab construction experience
  • Significant experience with large, heavy, civil infrastructure projects
  • Joint venture experience an asset

  • Able to use construction software such as BluBeam, Power Bi, Primavera, BIM modelling, etc with ease
  • Able to communicate across all platforms
  • Valid driver's license, preferably with clean abstract
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time at a desk, viewing screens as well as able to negotiate the terrain of an inprocess construction site, including climbing stairs and ladders and being outdoors in all types of Edmonton weather
