Position Summary


Reporting directly to the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator, the Facilities Technician will primarily be responsible for supporting maintenance activities across various clinics.

Assigned tasks encompass the overall upkeep of our buildings and the Facilities Technician will play a key role in receiving, evaluating, and executing facilities maintenance requests while collaborating closely with the Facility Maintenance Coordinator.

The position may be on-call as required.

Major Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Executes routine repairs and carries out minor maintenance and repairs of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, equipment, and building environments.
  • Regular travel between sites throughout Edmonton and the surrounding areas is required.
  • Performs minor carpentry, painting, and maintains interior spaces and equipment except those services performed under service contract at regular intervals, inspects the entire premises from a maintenance and safety standpoint and files required reports with Facility Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Demonstrate selfinitiative and proactively take charge of tasks.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of all areas to detect mechanical issues or potential breakdowns.
  • Test or investigate performance of appliances, equipment, and HVAC as needed.
  • Adhere to established facility policies and procedures, including safety rules and safe working practices.
  • Assist with housekeeping and maintenance duties as required, providing input and feedback to Facilities Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Possess a keen ability to recognize problems and create effective courses of action to solve issues that arise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge

  • Ability to remain on your feet throughout a full shift, consistently engaging in activities such as bending, stretching, walking, lifting and moving objects.
  • Knowledge and/or training in plumbing, electrical, heating, water, gas, mechanical, plastering and painting is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with simultaneous deadlines and timelines.
  • Ability to communicate well, written and verbal, and establish and maintain positive working relationships with fellow employees.
  • Adept knowledge and familiarity with common hand and power tools.
  • Ability to safely work from a ladder.
  • Familiarity with building drawings, layouts and infrastructures.
  • Collaborate effectively with external contractors as needed.
  • Ability to take direction and then execute appropriately.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism are of utmost importance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Must be capable of performing necessary physical duties including the movement of heavy objects (up to and including 50lbs)
  • Education or proven experience with HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems considered an asset.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check.
  • Access to common hand and power tools
