ROLE OVERVIEW


The Business Development Manager will work with Ocean Wise to develop our commercialization strategy for initially
Plastics by developing relatable services Ocean Wise can take to market.

This will include developing an understanding of our market and its competitors, working with our team to develop a solid value proposition for Ocean Wise's plastics programs and determining the required resources to implement the strategy (including preparing a budget and workplan).


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Market Development

  • Identifying key target market sectors within nonprofit businesses and qualifies prospective clients,
  • Developing relationships with potential clients, specifically with the key decision makers and actioning inbound leads
  • Creating contractwinning proposals and prospective clients
  • Negotiating contract terms with clients and communicating terms to stakeholders
  • Monitoring and evaluating industry trends and key client drivers
  • Managing proposal response process, including detailed RFP requirements, content creation and evaluates inputs from various sources
  • Generating new leads; identifying and contacting decisionmakers, qualifying potential business opportunities and selecting contracts in line with goals and objectives
  • Leading and facilitating product/service logistics

Market Penetration

  • Developing strategies and market positioning by analyzing new market venture integration
  • Assisting in the coordination and implementation of marketing strategies and delegating tasks that achieve strategic goals
  • Conducting new product/service line presentations to current/prospective clients
  • Facilitating training to internal stakeholders on all current and new product/service offerings
  • Monitoring competition by gathering current market intelligence on pricing, and product/service offerings

Product and Service Development

  • Designing products and ensuring product specifications are executed within reasonable timelines and cost parameters
  • Is the Subject Matter Expert on Ocean Wise's business products, service, processes, and operations
  • Keeping up to date on industry news and trends within product/service offerings

Client Relations (Internal and External)

  • Developing and implementing overarching outbound sales and business development goals, sales processes, structure, and best practices across Ocean Wise
  • Maintaining and sharing professional knowledge through education, networking, attending industry events and conducting product/service presentations
  • Targeting opportunities to crosssell and expand business with existing clients and partners
  • Meeting regularly with management and key stakeholders to evaluate success of current strategy and practices
  • Maintaining relationships with current clients by providing ongoing support, information, and updates on products/services; keeping clients up to date on changes within Ocean Wise
  • Recommending appropriate changes to process or product improvements based on clients' feedback
  • Tailoring presentations to current and prospective clients based on client (internal and external) feedback

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • 7 years' experience in marketing or successful sales role
  • Sales experience in US an asset
  • Proven ability in sales and negotiations
  • Proficient in French (verbal and written) an asset

Technical Competencies

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Facilitation and presentation skills (particularly group presentations)
  • Innovative and Problem-Solving skills that include the ability to develop and propose equipmentbased solutions for clients

WORKING CONDITIONS


This position will be working primarily remoting with occasional on-site meetings and potential meetings with Board members or other members of Senior Management or Executive Leadership team.
