The incumbent is responsible for completing preventative and demand work orders within e-Facilities (Maintenance Management System).

Responsibilities:
Reading and interpreting blueprints schematics and wiring diagrams. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge to operate building automation systems, H.V.A.C. systems, boilers, chiller, refrigeration equipment and other mechanical equipment. Knowledge of plumbing installation and repair. Knowledge of door hardware and locks. Demonstrate the ability to work well with others and independently. Understands the importance of confidentiality. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Maintenance management systems (MMS).

The Maintenance Worker III has frequent physical demands which include extensive standing, walking, bending and lifting of heavy equipment and supplies.


Description:

As a Maintenance Worker III, you may perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work on patient and hospital equipment and complex mechanical systems to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment.

You may utilize your maintenance skills and experience in the performance of preventative and demand maintenance within the exterior and interior of the building.

Your duties may include troubleshooting and repairing electronic components on patient and hospital equipment; monitoring, troubleshooting and performing repairs on boilers, HVAC, medical air and vacuum systems and pure water systems.

In addition, you may be required to coordinate and assign work to other Maintenance Worker staff in order to meet operational requirements.

Required Qualifications:


Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or 1 year specialized/technical training in a related field OR 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines or AHS standards where boiler support is necessary.

Possession of a valid driver's licence.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Mechanical aptitude and one year of experience in plant operations and maintenance is required. Be able to repair mechanical equipment (i.e. Pumps, fans, belt drives, HVAC equipment, and any related equipment within the hospital).

Preferred Qualifications:

Trade certification (plumbing, electrical, instrumentation) is desired. A 4th class Power Engineering certificate is preferred. One year of experience in building automation systems. One year of Health Care facility experience is desired. Knowledge of building maintenance and repair. Able to operate grounds equipment. Knowledge of Infectious control measures within a hospital is desired.
