Securities Data Analyst

What is the opportunity?


The Securities Data Services (SDS) group within RBC's Reference Data Service's is responsible for the management of RBC Capital Markets' central repositories of securities data.

As a Data Analyst you will assist with providing reusable, authoritative, timely, comprehensive, and consistent securities reference data across the organization.

You will play a key role in the management of the organizations securities reference data repository.

Success will be accomplished by providing reference data expertise throughout Capital Markets and the operational support of the Securities Reference Data Repository (SRDR) as well as other internal and external repositories.


What will you do?

  • Provide frontline operational support for securities reference data
  • Setup and maintain securities reference data for fixed income, equity, and equity derivative securities, including corporate actions, ensuring that data is accurate and timely
  • Review/investigate data exceptions through the use of data query tools and remediate exceptions as necessary
  • Assist in the implementation of process improvement and system enhancement initiatives by identifying opportunities for automation and by researching the root cause of data quality issues.
  • Contribute to the department knowledge base by creating and updating documentation of supported processes

What you need to succeed?

Must-haves

  • University Degree
  • Good knowledge of different financial product types (fixed income, equity, derivatives, currency, commodities)
  • Advanced problem solving, analytical and decisionmaking skills
  • Experience in developing successful and responsive relationships with a wide number of groups at various levels
  • Good experience using MS Excel, MS Access, and Business Intelligence tools; intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
  • Relevant work experience in the use of reference data across different product types (fixed income, equity, derivatives, currency, commodities) within an established financial institution, investment bank or fund management organization
  • Experience with the use of Bloomberg and Reuters Data (Corporate Actions, Reference Data)
  • Working knowledge of ADP/Broadridge settlement system
  • Experience with GoldenSource or any another enterprise data management system
