Telecon is looking for an energetic and motivated individual to join our growing Civil Team This is a field position/on the road.


Working under the supervision of the Foreman, the Driller will assist in the installation of telecommunication cables and apparatuses to support the Expercom Civil Team.

This position is based out of our construction yard in Hamilton

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Load and unload directional drill equipment in a manner that is secure and damage free
  • Transport associated tools, materials and/or equipment in a safe manner
  • Complete Driver's logbook & daily vehicle inspection (pretrip, enroute, posttrip), maintenance and repair reports, accident, or incident reports
  • Complete a daily inspection on equipment prior to commencing work
  • Prepare the drill fluid based on site conditions prior to boring commencing
  • In conjunction with locator, operate the directional drill using the selected bore heads and back reamers to place cables and / or duct
  • Trouble shoot any equipment issues and relay to service technician for assistance or resolution
  • Able to operate the drill locater as required
  • Other duties as required
THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

  • Valid Class A driver's license with 'R' or 'Z' endorsement an asset
  • Must have similar previous drilling experience and working around existing buried utilities
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Must be able to lift 23 kg (50 lbs)
  • Must provide a clean driving record (abstract) and criminal check prior to employment commencing
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must be fully proficient with CVOR and Book 7 requirements
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirements.
