Our corrugated plants are ISO 9001 certified, and several are now American Institute of Baking (AIB) and Forestry Stewardship Counsel (FSC) certified.

We have an immediate opening in our Brampton plant for a
Corrugated Testing Technician.

  • Packaging Standards, TAPPI and ISTA procedures
  • Making recommendations for improved packaging and effectively communicating findings to aid in problem solving. Working with the Quality and Technical services departments.

***Reporting to the Design Manager, this position is responsible for preparing and testing corrugated board. Some of the tests performed in the lab include; basis weight, edge crush (ECT), caliper, pin adhesion (PAT), flat crush ( FCT), box compression( BCT ), mullen ( burst) and cobb. Pre - shipment tests include drop, vibration and incline.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the company's quality system, how it works and understand the company's Quality Policy
  • Attending QWG, teams calls and Safety meetings.
  • Prepare, test and report on any of the following: basis weight, edge crush, caliper, bpi, pin adhesion, flat crush, box compression, Mullen, Cobb, score bend, moisture and wet shear tests.
  • Receive samples gathered from Atlantic plants (pre converted sheets and converted samples) and perform daily tests.
  • Create detailed monthly summary reports on the Random Samples submitted and tested each month.
  • Advise the Design Manager of any nonconformances that maybe occurring with the controlled room and have any problems regarding controlling the volume of work.
  • Run any applicable tests that have been requested by a customer and/or sales representative and forward the results.
  • Test competitor's board for benchmark or comparison purposes, as requested by sales representative.
  • Calibrate equipment yearly and coordinate third party calibration services.
  • Maintain equipment is proper working order and ensure supplies are replenished as needed.
  • Participate in Product Knowledge Seminars and tours.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Work safely, reporting hazards and unsafe conditions, and taking all reasonable measures to protect themselves and their coworkers.
  • Use and or wear personal protective equipment that the company requires to be used or worn.
  • Work in compliance with the responsibilities as outlined in the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Industrial Regulations and with the Company's safe practices and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Packaging Design
  • A basic understanding of Artios Cad and the Cape program.
  • Knowledge of corrugated packaging allowances
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, knowledge of Microsoft Word. PowerPoint and Acrobat.
  • Strong communication skills and working well within a team.
  • Good organizational, prioritization and multitask skills
  • Exhibit a sense of urgency and demonstrates the ability to problem solve in a fastpaced environment.
  • Ability to present themselves in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision.
