SUMMARY

The Material Handler assists in the safe and efficient operation of the Manufacturing Facility by loading, unloading, and moving materials, both manually and with a forklift.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves with lift trucks or by hand.
  • Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage.
  • Transfers all materials from storage or work sites to designated areas in a safe manner.
  • Secures lifting attachments to materials and takes a load to destination.
  • Counts, weighs, and records the number of units of materials moved or handled.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with a power hoist.
  • Clean work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
  • Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
  • Remove all scrap bins, cardboard, and trash pails, as needed to maintain a tidy environment.
  • Ensures placement of materials and products in work areas such as Extruders or CNCs is done to maximize the production process.
  • Timely and accurate loading and unloading of materials as directed.
  • Maintaining a safe pathway to transport materials to and from destinations within the facility.
  • Prioritizes and plans work; accordingly, uses time efficiently and makes timely decisions.
  • Other duties as required.
EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Proof of past/current Forklift/Tow Motor Certification.
  • Previous related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally may maneuver up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job may include but are not limited to close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Must be able to stand continuously for the duration of the scheduled shift.
