Director, Canadian Wealth Management Operations

The Director of Canadian Wealth Management Operations is responsible for all operational support required for Canadian Wealth Management businesses.

They are responsible for defining operational strategies and managing to the strategy through the development, execution, and delivery of operational policies and procedures and technology-enabled, innovative solutions.

The incumbent is responsible for developing and managing core relationships within the business lines, as well as developing and maintaining internal partner and external partner relationships to ensure there is an efficient flow of both communication and support amongst all the Banks partners.

Develop, execute, align, and maintain operational strategies for Canadian Wealth Management to deliver innovative short, medium, and long term solutions while managing a team that provides core day to day support and value to the business
Lead a team of experts in the development of operational processes, particularly in defining the Scotia Wealth Management field operational experience and deliver operational solutions to key business-driving needs
Align Scotia Wealth Management business processes and procedures with the business objectives while leveraging internal partners to improve the client/customer experience
Direct strategic change to the support services offered to continuously improve the field experience and seek opportunities for growth and cost reduction by exploring operational efficiencies in the business and engaging multiple support areas to carry out business strategy
Ensure efficient and cost-effective operations by developing and managing key relationships across Wealth Management and with service partners across the Scotiabank Group
Work with internal partners to manage key external vendor relationships (Broadridge, CGI, PureFacts and Dataphile) to ensure cost effective delivery and to ensure service levels are met or exceeded
Lead and motivate a multi-disciplinary team of operations specialists through development, integration, and alignment of regulatory policies to deliver innovative, results-focused solutions to support the businesses and head office business line staff and to deliver a consistent and high-quality end client experience
Consistently ensure that proper reporting, regulatory and compliance issues are being managed and delivered within the required time frames and co-ordinate operational audit report findings
Work with cross-functional teams to influence the support and delivery of these initiatives
Demonstrated expertise in operations within the Wealth Management industry Regulatory bodies including CIRO, IFIC and Fundserv
7+ years of managerial experience in a front office and/or operational group/team with a Wealth organization
Mutual Funds product knowledge is an asset
High level knowledge required of numerous and diverse front and back-office systems and processes
Must be comfortable operating within a matrix management structure
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
