Position Summary
This position provides a full range of support to the human resources department of Finlandia Village.

In addition, the Human Resources Intern will provide support to the Director of Human Resources in the areas of recruitment, training, labour relations, and other functional areas of human resources management.


Some Key Responsibilities

  • Aid in recruitment efforts by developing, posting, and filtering through job postings for Finlandia Village as per the appropriate collective agreement.
  • Liaise with departments to discover and aid with their individual needs regarding human resources
  • Engage in onboarding procedures for new hires including paperwork processing, drafting and posting job awards, tours, orientations, and other setup as required. Review for accuracy and completion.
  • Review incident reports for accuracy, provide feedback and suggestions with department managers
  • Discuss with department managers regarding safe return to work and modified work practices when necessary
  • Update and maintain employee records including seniority, benefits, and other personal information
  • Work alongside payroll and scheduling to ensure that leaves, status changes, new hires, and other changes are properly accounted for and documented
  • Provide ideas and insight for the streamlining of human resource measures within Finlandia Village
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Human Resources Management
  • Working towards the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation
  • Proficient in working with Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of ESA, Long-Term Care Homes Act, Fixing Long-Term Care Act
  • Finnish speaking is considered an asset

Experience
Some experience in the field of human resources, labour/employee relations and/or benefits administration is essential

Abilities/skills

  • Highly developed researching abilities
  • Advanced interpersonal/communications skills
  • Superior problemsolving and critical thinking skills
