Position Summary and Scope of Service:

Under the direction of the Manager, Nutrition & Environmental Services, the supervisor plans, organizes and evaluates the operations for Environmental Services through supervision, motivation, training and development.

Ensures the highest degree of customer satisfaction and ensures the sanitation, cleanliness and attractiveness of conditions in all areas of St.

Amant.


The Supervisor, Environmental Services supervises and is a resource for a team of employees on days, evenings and weekend shifts and provides supervision for special events held at St.

Amant.

Qualifications:

Educational:

  • Grade XII diploma or certificate
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of industrial cleaning chemicals, industrial cleaning procedures and equipment
  • Certificate, Diploma or specialized courses from a recognized facility specializing in Supervisory or Management training

Professional:

  • Two years experience as a supervisor responsible for a team of employees preferably in a health care setting
  • Knowledge and experience with WHMIS, Infection Control and Department of Labour Regulations
  • Knowledge of labor relations and the ability to work within a unionized environment
  • Ability and knowledge of customer service concepts
  • Ability to work independently, interdependently and collaboratively with others
  • Skilled in the operation of microcomputers and computer peripherals
  • Familiarity with adultlearning concepts
  • Problem solving skills

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Program/Service Support:
Consistent with the Mission, Values and policies of St.

Amant and the Principle Functions and Objectives of Centralized Services, the Supervisor, Environmental Services provides quality services as outlined in five categories.


Duties include:

  • Plans, organizes and supervises the activities of employees in Housekeeping, Linen/Laundry, Sewing and Receiving Services
  • Ensures the sanitation and cleanliness of all areas by following accepted Infection Control practices, meeting Manitoba Health requirements and by inspecting work for quality, accurateness and completeness and by conducting regular inspections and audits of all St.
Amant areas

  • Ensures that clean linen is provided to all areas in a timely manner and reviews linen requirements on a regular basis
  • Ensures the timely delivery to all programs and services of all goods delivered to St.
Amant and the documentation of goods received into St.
Amant

  • Monitors and ensures the appropriate and cost effective provision of courier services
  • In cooperation with the Manager, Nutrition & Environmental Services, plans, organizes and documents all special requests for services
  • As delegated by the Manager, Nutrition & Environmental Services, provides supervision for activities scheduled after hours for either staff or program events
  • Plans work schedules, assigns tasks, supervises and performs audits on duties of all employees on all shifts in Environmental Services
  • Ensures that Environmental Services information is documented, available to relevant members of St.
Amant and is confidential

  • Participates in research in Environmental Services areas and reviews relevant professional literature
  • Participates in the development of specifications for purchasing of Housekeeping and Linen/Laundry chemicals, equipment and supplies and works in cooperation with the Manager, Nutrition & Environmental Services and purchasing staff to ensure products meet the needs of the services, are cost effective and safe
  • As delegated by Manager, Nutrition & Environmental Services communicates with vendors and obtains information on products, equipment and services
  • Assists with the arrangements for office moves and the rel
