A Brief Overview
Overseeing the DBMS Flow Cytometry and Imaging Core Facilities, the Instrumentation Specialist will bring expertise in flow cytometry techniques, including cell sorting and analysis, as well as proficiency in optimizing multi-parameter panels (eg. 10+ channels) to maximize signal to noise and minimize spectral overlap.
The incumbent will be skilled in imaging/microscopy techniques, such as confocal microscopy, super-resolution/TIRF, and intravital microscopy, ideally possessing proficiency in cannulation of blood vessels and intravascular injections in mice and rats.
Job Description:
What you will do
Oversees the day-to-day operations of a large and/or complex laboratory.
Participates in planning activities to ensure the laboratory meets the projected needs of stakeholders.
Interacts with researchers, students, and other personnel associated with research projects that utilize instrumentation in the facility.
Analyzes data, prepares reports, and submits and/or publishes results.
Oversees general lab maintenance including consumables, samples, scheduling, and housekeeping.
Monitors and ensures that all relevant safety procedures are maintained.
Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit. Required Education
Ph.
D. or equivalent.
More than 5 years of experience.
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Knowledge and Requirements
Knowledge of concepts and principles in a specialist field that is typically acquired through a combination of advanced professional or academic qualifications and/or significant work experience.
