An exciting opportunity exists in our Calgary, AB office for an Accountant.

Reporting to the Manager, Accounting, this position is responsible for all aspects of operational accounting for Sherritt's Oil, Gas, & Power Division, including the month end trial balance close for both business units.

This role also provides support for a wide range of accounting tasks within the Finance team plus any ad-hoc analysis as required.

Responsible to bill intercompany activities and balance accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis.
Responsible to reconcile accounts receivable accounts.
Responsible to record cash receipts, prepare monthly bank reconciliations, and booking of reconciling items appropriately.
Responsible to prepare monthly/quarterly general ledger account reconciliations.

Work closely with the Accounts Payable to support timely data entry, payment of vendor invoices, appropriate allocation of withholding tax, irregular and/or prepayments, and resolution of any vendor disputes.

Support both internal and external audit tasks.
Support and consult with other departments to ensure accurate recording of day-to-day accounting.
Prepare and distribute operational accounting reports.
Professional accounting designation or working towards preferred.
Industry experience in the Oil, Gas, & Power generation businesses is an asset.
Experience with international operations is a benefit.
Computer proficiency and experience with accounting systems required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel,Dynamics AX, and D365 would be an asset.
