Working for the Department of Surgery

Position
Reporting to Dr.

Matthew Curran, the Research Assistant position is an 18-month entry level clinical research position funded by the Mitacs Accelerate Program, with partner organization Epineuron Inc.

To be eligible, applicants must be recent graduates (within 2 years) with a post-secondary undergraduate or graduate degree in Science or Engineering.

The Research Assistant will assist with ongoing clinical peripheral nerve research projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to build upon your education and experience, develop valuable clinical trial experience and make connections with industry partners.


Duties
Study supervision and data acquisition/analysis

  • Recruit and consent potential study participants.
  • Assess study participants for study outcomes as per study protocols.
  • Data entry into study databases and the maintenance of the databases.
  • Statistical analysis.
  • Manuscript preparation.
Industry Liaison

  • Attend surgeries where industry product is being utilized to facilitate these cases.
  • Liaise with industry sponsor to provide updates on trial progression.
  • Work with local investigators on trial administration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor's in Science or Engineering within 2 years of graduation.
  • Previous research experience with industry affiliations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with word processing software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous grant writing experience.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and statistical software such as STATA.
