What you'll do Capilano University's School of Motion Picture Arts is dedicated to inspiring and training a new generation of Canadian talent in the film, TV, animation, gaming and motion picture industries.

Film courses at Capilano University include classroom and studio instruction, lectures and hands-on demonstrations in both dramatic and documentary practice. Group, individual and production mentoring, "on-set" supervision and support are central to the applied nature of our program. The successful candidate will lead/participate in workshops addressing cinematographic techniques and aesthetics across all years of study.

The successful candidate possesses a strong background as a Cinematographer in dramatic features, television, and other media, along with valuable experience mentoring and instructing students in post-secondary education. They must have experience working at all budget levels and in challenging environments which has helped them gain insight in creating impactful, story-driven visuals. The selected candidate will have experience in visual effects cinematography, including plate imaging for delivery for compositing, integration of CGI and Performance Capture with live action.We encourage applicants whose lived and professional experiences will help students navigate and see themselves in our changing industry.

What you'll bring The successful candidate will have: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required. Master's Degree in a relevant field – or a combination of professional, educational, and instructional equivalencies. Minimum of 10-15 years of professional experience as a cinematographer. Experience teaching cinematography at the post-secondary level. Transport Canada Basic Drone Pilot Certification recommended. CSC or ASC affiliation is recommended but not required. Current experience with film industry camera operation and workflows for Canon, Red and Arriflex Digital systems. Knowledge of post-production, digital workflow and colour correction Experience working and collaborating within a large and diverse team Posting Detail Information Internal or External Position External Appointment Date (mm/dd/yyyy) 08/01/2024 Salary Scale $9,420 per instructional section to a maximum of $14,391 per instructional section based on previous experience.
