We're hiring and looking for a
Category Coordinator to join the supply chain team in
Cambridge, Ontario for an 18 month contract period.

This is an integral role on the supply chain team at Farmers Depot. We pride ourselves on service, same day shipping, product knowledge and product selection.

You will look after quickly and accurately sourcing products from vendors, seeking to reduce our cost of products and manage the production of our proprietary line of products.

You will also stay closely connected to the Purchasing Coordinator and provide backup support as needed. It's important that you enjoy systems, processes, structure, and have quick follow through for this position.

This is a permanent, full-time position based out of 455 Dobbie Drive, Cambridge, Ontario. The hours for this position are Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.

What you'll do:

  • Look after sourcing the right products in the right location at the right time with the right vendors in the most profitable way possible
  • Develop and maintain positive longterm vendor relationships
  • Record new vendor contact information
  • Ensure product availability and negotiate pricing
  • Sourcing, costing and pricing custom orders as well as sourcing alternatives for back orders
  • Manage costing and codes for multiple vendors with the same product
  • Manage product setups
  • Production maintenance on updates
  • Coordinate the forecasting of sales for new products to help build an accurate demand forecast by inventory location site
  • Coordinate production with the pick pack team and with additional labour resources
  • Manage production with outsourced vendors
  • Provide backup for Purchasing Coordinator which includes but not limited to placing orders and receiving product into our system

Your background includes:

  • BSc/BA in business administration, marketing, procurement or a related field of study
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in a purchasing, category management, supply chain or similar role
  • Advanced Office and Excel skills with an ability to create pivot tables and manipulate formulas is a must
  • Experience with Dynamics GP is an asset
  • Strong comfort level using and learning technology and shipping inventory software
  • Strong attention to detail with highly developed organizational skills and ability to keep good records
  • An analytical mind with a strategic ability
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast paced team environment under pressure with competing demands
  • A passion for animals and a background in the farming or agriculture for easier recognition of products, but not a requirement
