Who we are:

Do you want to be a part of an award-winning feminist organization that is making a huge impact in the lives of vulnerable women and individuals who identify as a woman across Toronto?** Street Haven is a feminist non-for-profit organization that provides wrap-around services for highly vulnerable women in Toronto including shelter services, emergency hotel services, supportive housing, mental health and addictions support and treatment services and employment support services.

We have operated one of Canada's first and oldest women's shelter services and are proud of our rich history in providing housing, social care, health and training supports to Toronto's marginalized women.

Annually, we serve approximately 1500 women, and we have supported tens of thousands of women in our 59-year history.

We have been on the forefront of advocating for real change to address homelessness and housing affordability for women in Toronto and work closely with politicians and governments to influence policy and raise public awareness.


Street Haven Board:

Street Haven is looking to recruit board directors to be part of a highly engaged and passionate board to continue to support the governance of the evolution of the organization as we look to further expand the organization's impact and become one of the Toronto's leading women's agency will be an exciting year as we prepare for our 60th anniversary and advance on our exciting vision to expand and grow the agency to serve more women.

The board meets s ix times a year, and we have three committees (Finance and Audit, Governance and Executive).

  • Housing and Shelter experience
  • Mental health and / or addictions experience
  • Experience supporting and serving and/or are a member of marginalized populations groups including Black and Indigenous and other racialized groups, lowincome groups, homeless individuals, newcomers, and women.
We are also seeking the following knowledge and competencies:

  • Real Estate
  • Legal Services
  • Fundraising
  • Board experience, preferably in the notforprofit
