BasSaintLaurent, Canada CAE Inc. Full time

Role and Responsibilities
Does this sound like you?

  • Consistent, reliable, and hungry to learn.
  • Passionate about process improvement and able to perform while transforming.
  • Able to devise global category strategies and influence decision makers.
  • Excellent communicator and solid negotiator who understands the t&cs and details of IT contracts.
  • Previous experience in Global IT procurement, specifically related to IT infrastructure and technology tower.

By joining our Global Strategic Sourcing team, you will have the opportunity to participate in exciting sourcing and process improvement opportunities to support delivery of CAE strategic vision.

Collaborating and working alongside our global Digital and Technology teams, you will identify, analyze, evaluate the right vendors, right technology and support the growth of CAE.

The role we are offering you:

A vendor manager orchestrates the IT department's dealings with its suppliers, such as makers of hardware and software and providers of services.

The vendor manager guides the purchasing of products or services for the department. This includes evaluating a potential provider's reputation, resources and expertise, as well as helping with negotiations and contracts. Large IT departments may need a vendor management office, not just one person. This is often necessary when an IT department has varied and complex contracts with outsourcers.

By joining our Global Strategic Sourcing team, you will have the opportunity to participate in exciting opportunities from the inception of the CAE strategic vision.

Collaborating and working alongside our global digital strategy teams in Information Technology (IT) and the Digital Accelerator (DA) teams, you will identify, analyze, evaluate the right vendors, right technology and support the growth of CAE.

Ready to:

  • Development and execution, through a collaborative and inclusive approach, of a global technology sourcing strategy for assigned categories that delivers against corporate IT and business strategy priorities and translates corporate IT and business imperatives into effective IT sourcing strategies.
  • Identification and evaluation of the best options for supply, which may include acquisition of technology products, outsourcing or insourcing, or other alternatives such as brokering vendor partnerships.
  • Lead DevOps style biweekly backlog prioritization meetings with relevant stakeholders.
  • Engagement with the business to understand business drivers, demand, risk appetite and environmental factors that influence the development and maintenance of the technology sourcing strategy.
  • Alignment of technology sourcing objectives and associated metrics with those of the business and IT (including risk, security and enterprise architecture).
  • Promotion and communication of the sourcing strategy for assigned categories to the IT leadership team and other key business stakeholders, ensuring that it is wellsocialized and wellsupported by key stakeholders. Also, development of and/or contribution to an action plan to evolve sourcing into a strategic business function.
  • Collaboration with the CIO, VP of Digital Accelerator and business executives to develop strategies that leverage technology vendor ecosystems to achieve business and IT strategic priorities.
  • Adoption of agile, pragmatic and fasttrack principles into technology sourcing best practices.
  • Liaison with stakeholders to lead major sourcing programs, including collaborative relationships with other procurement teams.
  • Keeping abreast of industry trends that have an impact on the technology sourcing strategy, through external advisory services, internal resources and good working relationships with existing and emerging strategic vendors used by CAE.
  • Presentation of all pertinent supplier and/or industry trends to stakeholders and immediate management, and recommendation of updates and improvements to existing strategies.
  • Identification of cost optimization opportunities across the company and presentation of concise recommendations/plans to management.
  • Development of RFx materials and management of detailed analysis of proposals and vendor capabilities, negotiations and supplier selection.
  • Contract negotiation with new and/or existing suppliers, in liaison with legal and the relevant stakeholders, to accomplish lowest total cost of ownership, savings and risk management objectives.
  • Delivery and/or participation in the delivery of continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • University undergraduate degree (such as bachelor's and B.Sc.) in an IT discipline, commerce or a related field of study.
  • MBA an asset, especially if prime degree is in Engineering or Sciences.
  • Senior IT professional with at least 10 years of experience. Broad understanding of IT. Experience with software licensing, hardware procurement and outsourcing agreements.
