They will be support our program patrons and the sports & fitness programming function by:

  • Preparing appropriate music and handouts for each class
  • Providing effective communication with customers by giving ample notice in regards to changing appointment times and responding quickly to clients who must change their schedules
  • Assisting patrons, answering questions, and maintaining a positive exercise experience for members and class participants
  • Reviewing weekly attendance and help to drive participation numbers in all classes as well as aid in the creation of future group fitness programs.
  • Teaching scheduled classes and providing adequate warmup, exercises, stretching and cooling down
  • Instructing patrons on effective workout methods, explaining proper techniques, demonstrating exercises and identifing different muscle groups
  • Advising clients about important safety concerns and demonstrate exercises or maneuvers as needed. Ensuring that safety standards are met, and that department and facility policies are adhered to
  • Ensuring all equipment use and physical exercises are performed safely and report any concerns to management in regards to equipment and/or gym space safety.
  • Perform related duties as required by the Recreation Experience Coordinator and other Recreation Managers
  • Receiving and responding to feedback from the public and staff
  • Creating an inviting environment by welcoming members and guests

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Personal Training Certification, Group Fitness Instructor Certification, Coaching or other related certifications
  • Previous experience in Group Fitness facilitation is an asset (High Intensity classes would be considered a strong asset)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and diplomacy skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Enthusiasm and passion for people with a focus on customer service
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving and ability to maintain a high level of leadership skills
  • As a condition of employment
- must provide a valid and clean Criminal Background Check for working with Vulnerable Sector
