Maritime Electric Company, Limited is seeking candidates for the position of: Regulatory and Financial Forecast Accountant

Reporting to the Manager, Regulatory and Financial Planning, the Regulatory and Financial Forecast Accountant is a key member of the Company's finance team working in a dynamic and challenging environment.

This role will support the five year financial planning process including updating the planning model for actual results on a monthly basis and implementing changes to the model as required; performing regulatory account reconciliations and proactively analyzing changes to regulatory accounts as a result of regulatory orders; assisting in the preparation of financial evidence required in regulatory applications including but not limited to General Rate Applications and applications related to regulatory deferral accounts; and performing quality control checks of regulatory filings as required.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Diploma in Accounting Technology or similar program. A minimum of two years' accounting experience is required. Previous work experience in a regulated utility is considered an asset. Current enrollment in or working towards acquiring a Chartered Professional Accounting designation is an asset.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have strong technical and analytical skills. Expertise in excel spreadsheet application at an advanced level is required. Problem solving and process development skills with the ability to troubleshoot and find solutions within excel models is required.

Success in this role requires strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to work with people at all levels of the organization. The ability to manage multiple priorities and produce results within tight deadlines is required.

This position offers a competitive and comprehensive compensation and benefits package. The pay range for this position is between $65,000 and $80,000 per annum.
