We are looking for a team of safety minded individuals to work with our contractors and sub-contractors to control and secure a safe work area within the trail network, parking lot, and roadways impacted as part of our ongoing construction projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Set up and take down trail traffic control signs and devices.
- Ensure that public trail traffic, parking lots and roadways are safe from activities around the work sites.
- Maintain alertness at all times.
- Maintain clear and timely radio communications with other team members to ensure safety of other workers and the public
- Control flow of vehicles and trail users through monitored zone as required by the project needs of the days
- Notify supervisors/manager of unsafe or changing scenarios.
- Understand OH&S safe work practices and procedures, follow them consistently
- Other duties as directed
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
No supervisory duties required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
- High School diploma an asset/ required
- Flagging/ Traffic Control experience an asset
- Valid OFA level 1 an asset
- Previous experience with radio communications
- Strong effective communications skills
- Ability to hike up/ down surrounding trail systems
- Ability to transport signage and stand for duration of shift
- Ability to work in outdoor environment for the duration of the shift
- Experience with emergency procedures
- Familiarity with helicopter operations an asset
- Attention to details, positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Aptitude for talking with guests and enforce trail closures/ delay for safety reasons
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must supply your own required
PPE:
proper footwear (good hiking/ trail shoes, proper exposure clothing for all weather conditions and being outside all day (hi-visibility vest, hard hats and radios will be provided)
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$18.00/hour up to $21.05/hour
- Up to 40 hours/week
