Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Motorola Solutions Full time

Job Description

Our co-ops don't wash cars or do coffee runs. They also don't work on side projects. Our co-ops are treated like full team members and are given the opportunity to learn what being an engineer is like in the real world. You'll have the opportunity to learn new technologies and best practices in electrical design and validation.

You'll also have a lot of fun and make a lot of friends. For the duration of your work term, you will be a member of a multi-disciplinary engineering team responsible for the design and implementation of the next generation of Motorola's market-leading high-performance video solutions products.

The successful candidate will work with a team of Design Validation Specialists on evaluating the performance of new camera designs intended for release to manufacturing. In this role you will perform tests, identify performance issues, collaborate with HW and FW teams to find root cause defects and retest to confirm that issues have been addressed.

Responsibilities include:

Temperature testing on new camera designs. Reproduce and investigate failures and create test reports. Perform image quality tests on new camera designs. Camera functionality and ease of installation evaluation. Perform tests on lenses and other optical elements. Perform vibration and drop tests on new camera designs.

Qualifications:

Mechatronics, Electromechanical, Electrical or Mechanical engineering student; Detail oriented and well organized, ability to perform failure investigations, root cause analysis and create clear, easy to understand test reports; Knowledge of basic networking; Experienced user of Microsoft Office applications such as PowerPoint and Excel.

Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills and experience:

Prior experience with test automation and creating test scripts using Python. Prior experience with cameras or photography and understanding of camera sensor and lens operation. "Get it done" attitude looking for ways how to get things done rather than explaining why they can't be done.

The base salary range for this position in British Columbia is 38,000 CAD - 47,000 CAD.
