Fraser Crossing Partners, in charge of designing, constructing, and partly financing a notable project for the Province of British Columbia, forms a 50/50 partnership between Aecon and Acciona. The upcoming four-lane cable-stayed bridge over the Fraser River will enhance network connectivity to New Westminster and Surrey, incorporating safety features like a center median barrier, wider lanes for various vehicles, and dedicated pathways for pedestrians and cyclists. The project scope also encompasses building connecting roadways on both ends of the bridge, creating grade separations on Highway 17, and managing the old bridge's dismantling post the new bridge's completion.

The EHS Advisor will play a pivotal role in the Pattullo Bridge project situated in the vibrant environs of Surrey and New Westminster.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct specialized safety briefings for workers, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Empower supervisors and staff through Aecon's Health, Safety, and Environmental Manual training.
  • Deliver training on various safety protocols including fall protection, confined spaces, traffic management, WHMIS, and emergency responses.
  • Organize training sessions covering WHMIS, First Aid, forklift operation, propane handling, etc.
  • Undertake workplace inspections, behavioral observations, and audits.
  • Update Material Safety Data Sheets when necessary.
  • Create and enact workplace procedures such as emergency evacuations, fire safety, and traffic management.
  • Distribute safety gear, materials, and equipment.
  • Deliver safety presentations to clients and promote Aecon's safety system to potential partners.
  • Contribute as a management member of Joint Health and Safety Committees.
  • Analyze accident trends, inspect project facilities, and propose corrective measures.
  • Supervise site-safety coordinators' activities.
  • Collaborate with the Claims Administrator on workers' compensation matters and assist with related processes.
  • Develop return-to-work and modified duty programs, conduct accident/incident investigations, and mediate safety concerns.
  • Engage with Government agencies, prepare for external safety audits, and coordinate environmental aspects.
  • Compile statistical data for estimating in tender packages.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in construction industry focusing on Health and Safety.
  • Hold a WorkSafeBC Occupational First Aid Attendant Level 3 certification.
  • Possess certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and/or Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor.
  • Hold a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation.
  • In-depth understanding of WorkSafe BC regulations.
  • Experience working night shifts.
  • Background in Training and/or Education with experience in delivering EHS training programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a diplomatic approach.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Skilled in leading meetings and training sessions effectively.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in dynamic environments.
  • Hold a valid driver's license with a clean abstract.

The salary range for this role falls between $90,000 and $105,000 per year. Join this exciting opportunity and be a part of shaping the future of Canada's infrastructure
