JOB SUMMARY:
SaskPower aims to lead Saskatchewan to a more sustainable energy future by embracing innovation, efficiency, and quality service. The Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) team plays a vital role in achieving this mission by overseeing purchased applications. The team upholds core values such as safety, transparency, collaboration, and accountability.
The Genetec Specialist operates within the COTS team, overseeing the lifecycle of the physical security solution, from conceptualization to decommissioning. Additionally, this role involves managing various other COTS applications to provide comprehensive support.
Collaborating closely with other teams, the COTS team at SaskPower ensures that solutions align with business requirements. They are dedicated to maintaining up-to-date and secure technical environments for effective operations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Identify new business solutions and efficiencies, offering impactful recommendations for SaskPower's operations and strategies.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional projects to provide expertise for strategic planning initiatives at corporate and departmental levels.
- Represent the department by preparing and delivering presentations to both internal and external audiences as needed.
- Stay informed about industry advancements and best practices, adapting them to enhance SaskPower's operational landscape.
- Provide leadership and guidance to project teams and staff members when necessary.
- Manage the Genetec physical security solution, including maintenance, upgrades, incident resolution, and problem-solving.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address issues, review enhancements, and execute projects and new implementations.
- Apply industry best practices in planning, executing, and implementing COTS solutions.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or equivalent, OR relevant professional certifications, OR 3-5 years of experience in installing and enhancing applications across diverse technical platforms.
- Preference for individuals with Genetec solution experience.
- Team player with strong relationship-building skills internally and externally.
- Results-driven mindset, adept at managing complex issues with discretion and professionalism.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Facilitation and decision-making capabilities.
- Promotes a culture centered on safety, innovation, and teamwork.
- Demonstrated competency in SaskPower's required skills.
- Continuous professional development track record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft technologies and application architectures.
- Experience in server administration, Oracle, MS SQL databases, and SQL scripting.
- Web administration skills with IIS and Apache Tomcat, including certificate installation for .NET and Java applications.
- Experience in scripting and automation tools like Bash, Python, PowerShell, and JavaScript.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently to meet project deadlines.
- Technical consulting experience leveraging desktop tools.
- Proven testing skills and methodologies.
- Operates effectively in a high-activity environment with concurrent deadlines.
A suitable blend of relevant education and experience will also be considered.
