Your Opportunity:


This 0.4 FTE temporary position provides nutrition care virtually and in-person to ambulatory clients referred to the Diabetes Outpatient Clinic at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

The successful incumbent will assess, plan, implement and provide nutrition counseling, teaching, and follow up to clients with Type 1, Type 2 and/or Gestational Diabetes in accordance with standards for best practice in diabetes nutritional care.

In collaboration with members of the team, the dietitian communicates client progress with identified stakeholders, including primary care providers, as required.


Description:


As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes.

You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans.

You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings.

Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).

Preferred Qualifications:


Experience counseling in adult diabetes care in both one-on-one and group settings; Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) certification not required but preferred.

Experience with motivational interviewing skills and working on a multi-disciplinary team. Experience with electronic charting systems including Connect care. Demonstrated skills in motivational interviewing, facilitating one-on-one nutrition counseling sessions and nutrition classes.
