Reporting to the Director, Corporate Academics, the Learning and Development Consultant will provide expert-level guidance on the development and execution of learning programs.

It is expected that the Consultant has a broad knowledge base of the health care environment, and stays informed of trends and research related to educational theories and models, program/curriculum development/evaluation, and organizational development to promote a positive learning culture.


The Learning and Development Consultant leads and manages education and learning for inter-professional staff and leaders as well as contributes to the direction of education as aligned with the LHSC strategic directions.

As well, the Consultant contributes to decision making related to education needs of staff in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

They will identify gaps in existing leadership and staff development, and engage partners to drive initiatives that help our people develop the critical skills and capabilities necessary to achieve organizational goals.

They will serve as a thought leader, advising on evidence-based practices related to learning and development, and identifying new and innovative ways to build knowledge and competency.


The Learning and Development Consultant is responsible for ensuring quality education within a learning environment that maximizes productivity, quality care, values creativity, and strives for cost-effectiveness of learning activities, utilizing systematic tracking mechanisms to evaluate level of progress and accomplishments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Organizational Behaviour, Human Resources or equivalent as acceptable to the hospital
  • Certified Training & Development Professional preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of recent and related work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work strategically and independently, providing oversight to complex projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated advanced ability to provide professional guidance at all levels of the organization
  • Advanced analytics and data management skills for effective reporting of learning data and statistics
  • Proficient project management skills including multiple and concurrent projects
  • Demonstrated proficient problem solving and decisionmaking skills
  • Ability to research and assimilate a large quantity of diverse information
  • Applies creativity to work; advanced ability to learn software quickly

Immunization Requirements:
