Position Summary:

Assists surgical team with patient positioning, transfer and holding of limbs during surgery Ensures equipment, supplies and beds are available for cases as directed Performs housekeeping duties during changeover of rooms Cleaning and partial reprocessing of surgical instrumentation/equipment Assists with ensuring patient safety by identifying equipment problems and/or hazards on the unit Organization and restocking of different areas Works in compliance with the occupational health and safety act Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Must have minimum of two (2) years of recent or current OR attendant experience Grade 12 (or equivalent related skills and experience) Personal Support Worker and/or other appropriate related Health Care Certificate preferred Completion of ORA or CSAO course preferred Current BCLS & First Aid Certificates essential Previous Hospital/Health Care experience is required Effective written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills to work as part of a multidisciplinary team Must be a self-directed individual with well-developed organizational skills Ability to meet the physical demands of the position Knowledge of medical terminology an asset Positive work and attendance record is required

Physical Demands:

Frequent walking, standing, reaching, stooping and bending Occasional/frequent lifting up to approx. 11.5 kg Occasional pushing and pulling up to 17 kg
