Company Overview:
Position Overview:
This is a full-time mat leave coverage contract position for 1 year with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with external tax advisors to prepare and file tax returns and related schedules for all relevant jurisdictions ( federal, provincial, state/local, international)
- Prepare tax provisions and deferred tax calculations for financial reporting purposes, including reconciliation of income tax accounts
- Manage tax audits and inquiries and respond to tax notices from various tax authorities
- Ensure timely payment of required monthly/quarterly estimates
- Prepare and maintain quarterly cash flow projections for income tax
- Monitor and stay uptodate on tax legislation changes and identify opportunities for tax savings
- Develop, implement, and monitor tax planning strategies to optimize the company's tax position
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g. legal, accounting, treasury) to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations
- Work with external tax advisors to obtain advice on complex tax issues
- Review engagement letters and invoices from external advisors. Provide support to other finance team members on taxrelated matters
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; a CPA designation is required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax compliance and planning, preferably in a public accounting firm or a multinational corporation
- Experience with Canadian and U.S. tax laws, including transfer pricing and tax treaties
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks with tight deadlines
- Knowledge of tax software (e.g. Taxprep, DT Max, TaxCycle) is an asset
