SUMMARY

The Application Engineer II plays a crucial role in utilizing advanced engineering expertise and networks to assist regional accounts that have a substantial impact on software revenue. Additionally, they aid customers in resolving intricate engineering challenges by utilizing Ansys software products. This position offers technical pre-sales support across the complete sales process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead/Assist in coordinating and executing all technical activities throughout the sales process, such as client meetings, product presentations, demonstrations, and assessments
  • Analyze technical requirements, needs, and the current state of customers' infrastructure, operations, and engineering workflows
  • Develop and demonstrate simulation solutions to optimize customer workflows, supporting the software sales process
  • Engage in internal corporate projects to enhance solution suites, presales/sales enablement, and professional development
  • Articulate Ansys' value proposition, encompassing its entire product suite
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to communicate issues, feature requests, and suggestions for product enhancements. Aid in resolving and testing solutions developed by the R&D team
  • Conduct basic to intermediate training sessions on the use of Ansys products
  • Create innovative and practical solutions to tackle complex business challenges by collaborating across different teams and understanding customer needs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Practical experience with commercial optical software tools (e.g., Lumerical, RSoft, Zemax, ...)
  • Hands-on involvement in an engineering software environment
  • Demonstrated experience in modeling photonics components or photonics integrated circuits
  • Robust knowledge of optical theory
  • Skilled in providing technical support to customers, consulting services, or similar client-facing tasks

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's or PhD degree is advantageous
  • At least two (2) years of experience in an engineering software environment is beneficial
  • Minimum of two (2) years of practical experience with commercial optical software tools is advantageous
  • Prior experience in a client-facing role is a plus
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently in a distributed team setting
  • Excellent communication abilities
