Join our dedicated team in safeguarding public health We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Provincial Vaccine Depot Technician to manage the electronic inventory of life-saving vaccines and provide technical expertise for Alberta's immunization programs.


The Health and Wellness Promotion Branch is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual that would help control the distribution of biological products for the publicly funded immunization program from the Provincial Vaccine Depot (PVD) to other vaccine depot, wholesaler, and First Nation locations throughout the province.


The role Provincial Vaccine Depot Technician supports Alberta's immunization programs by managing a $70M electronic inventory of biological products at the Provincial Vaccine Depot (PVD).

Collaborate with stakeholders to provide technical support for the Alberta Vaccine Inventory Management System (AVI). Responsibilities include issue management, problem analysis, stakeholder engagement, documentation, and training.

Key responsibilities of the Provincial Vaccine Depot Technician Includes:

  • Issue Management: Handle service requests, take ownership of AVI system issues, and provide updates at meetings.
  • Problem Analysis & Resolution: Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, collaborate with vendors for solutions, and monitor service level agreements.
  • Engagement/Communication: Provide guidance, training, and support to end users, and communicate inventory issues.
  • Documentation: Maintain AVI documentation and summarize service desk calls and meetings.
  • Training: Mentor stakeholders and conduct AVI training.
  • Application Support: Develop test case scenarios and execute testing, ensuring compliance with procedures.
  • Policy Development: Assist in policy development for electronic vaccine inventory management and maintain standard operating procedures.

Qualifications:

Education and experience:
Two-year technical diploma in a related field; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency:

  • Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
  • Experience in warehousing and materials management and/or experience with computerized inventory management systems.

Assets:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills are required.
  • Experience with cold chain management, handling, distribution and inventory directives and guidelines is considered an asset

Required:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
Pallet truck certification is desirable.
