THE ROLE


Reporting to the Director of Property Reporting, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for monitoring the execution of day-to-day accounting and financial operations for our rapidly growing hotel portfolio, and will oversee a growing team of property accountants.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Perform financial statement reviews for hotels, providing guidance to property accountants where needed
  • Prepare the monthly financial statements for a select number of properties in our portfolio to ensure you understand the fine details of the processes your team is executing
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations of the Life House portfolio to ensure accuracy and timely completion
  • Provide insight and support to the Asset Management and Corporate Operations teams
  • Manage relationships with hotel owners as required
  • Accounting
  • Oversee the monthly financial close process by taking ownership of tasks including reviews of journal entries, prepaid schedules, billing/invoicing, fee calculations and account reconciliations
  • Assist in any corrective actions needed while reviewing the monthly financial statements
  • Monitor weekly accounting duties of each team member
  • Assist in team retraining/comprehension of accounting tasks
  • Strategy
  • Partner with senior finance team members to identify, develop and implement strategic automation and systemization of processes to build the department for scale
  • Help to establish, document, and maintain standard accounting policies and procedures and internal controls
  • Oversee and monitor the property onboarding accounting workflow for new hotels and ensure a smooth transition of hotels to Life House management
  • Provide ad hoc analysis/strategy support
  • Tax
  • Ensure sales and occupancy tax filings for the Life House hotel portfolio are prepared and filed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Financial / Treasury Operations
  • Oversee bank administration duties, including users and new accounts/requests
  • Manage financial technology to ensure financial operations and systems seamlessly integrate
  • Oversee cash operations for a select number of properties (including initiating wires and preparing cash funding requests)

WHO YOU ARE

  • University degree in accounting, business or finance
  • Must have 58 years of progressive experience in hotel accounting, with significant experience in preparing and reviewing hotel financial statements
  • Experience providing feedback regarding work quality and task execution
  • Have a thorough understanding of hotel operations and various hotel systems, and how they integrate
  • Experience building a highperforming team with a culture of learning and development
  • Robust attention to detail and desire to work in a fastpaced, hypergrowth environment
  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to manage high volume workloads simultaneously
  • Advanced Excel knowledge and high proficiency in Google Suite
  • Accounting
software experience (previous experience with Xero, Airbase, Gusto is a plus)
