The Systems Reporting Analyst assists the Manager, Regulatory Compliance by monitoring compliance through analysis of data from many sources, internal and external. Through developing new, as well as enhancing existing data models, you will continuously analyze and pull information to provide the team with the KPIs required to make decisions that affect our operations. The overall goal is to reduce financial and compliance risk by keeping up to date on operational changes. This is a 12-month term position.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Manager, Regulatory Compliance to manage the Compliance Register, including technology enhancements, testing, and managing the admin portal and all associated business requests.

  • Monitor operational effectiveness through data modelling and analysis.

  • Verify and cross reference data points to ensure data quality.

  • Develop and enhance data models to continuously fine tune analyses and report automation.

  • Responsible for timely, periodic reporting on RC objectives with a technical understanding of the report content. Presentation of reports such as Scorecards, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Track and report on internal and external (including governmental) audit actions, notices and/or orders for reporting activities on behalf of Irving Oil and its business units.

  • Support processes and initiatives to develop, implement, maintain, and revise company-wide policies and standards relating to regulatory compliance for current and developing jurisdictional regulations.

  • Ensure quality management system (QMS) records are established and maintained: records are in place for identification, storage, protection, retrieval, retention, retention time, and disposition of records.

  • Track and coordinate response to all external governmental survey requests through engagement and alignment with key stakeholders across the business in Canada and the US as well as key contacts at Statistics Canada and United States Census Bureau

  • Build an understanding of current and developing regulations in all jurisdictions where Irving Oil operates.

  • Other actions as required, e.g., support for business case development, internal and external industry benchmarking analyses.

Your Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience relevant to this position.

  • 3-5 years of experience in an analyst role: statistics, data analytics.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft software and tools (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS OneNote, MS SharePoint)

  • Data modeling experience (e.g., Excel, Cognos, Power BI, web surveys); QMS experience.

  • Good understanding of the supply chain within the oil and gas industry is a definite asset.

  • Compliance Management Software use and reporting is considered an asset.
