You are a results driven, negotiator who loves challenges and finding "better ways" to do things. We are seeking a Mineral Negotiator who will be responsible for negotiating agreements, performance of contractual obligations, and execution of area strategies across Cenovus' portfolio as well as partnering with various functional teams to drive alignment and business results. You have a well-developed industry network that supports your participation in industry initiatives, issue resolution, and identification of trends and emerging issues. You consistently model Cenovus' mission, vision and values.

This position will be located at our downtown Calgary, AB office.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and implement area strategies to support business objectives

  • Negotiate and close various agreements including Swaps, Farm-ins/Farm-outs, and Purchase and Sales

  • Work closely with various cross-functional teams to support organizational objectives

  • Provide business support and advice to asset teams as needed to improve commercial value

  • Supervise land sale activity, provide analysis, and bid recommendations

  • Identify relevant industry activity, trends and issues

  • Demonstrate commitment to safety and environmental compliance in all job aspects

Who you are:

  • Must be willing to work in the office in downtown Calgary

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Post-Secondary education with a Bachelor of Commerce in Petroleum Land Management (or equivalent) is preferred

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in mineral negotiations

  • Expertise in mapping and mapping systems

  • Solid understanding of Lease Administration and Contracts, CAPL agreements, freehold rights, and regulations including Western Canadian tenure and relevant Alberta Energy Regulator requirements/directives

  • Consistently demonstrates strengths in communication, collaboration, conflict resolution, and an ability to build effective relationships quickly

  • Established network of industry contacts and Related experience within Oil & Gas Industry is an asset
